Courageous Conversation Affiliates
An Elite squad . . .
The Courageous Conversations About Race (CCAR) methodology is a large part of CSD's District Improvement Plan and it helps us develop a common language regarding race across the district.
CCAR Affiliates are a dedicated group of individuals from across the district who support CSD in our in-depth implementation of CCAR's principles and constructs.
Affiliate practitioners in CSD, have made a deep commitment to being true racial equity leaders in the District and using their personal anti-racist journey as a lesson to support the development of others.
This powerful group of multicultural affiliates serves as District leaders and examples toward the best practices of CCAR methodology. They are called upon to do work such as leading groups of students or teachers through racial conversations, evaluating or developing race-related programs, and/or supporting other types of race-related work throughout the district.

in the words of Rabbi Sandra Lawson "You are either racist or anti-racist. Those are the two choices. The latter meaning you are working everyday either emotionally or physically to dismantle the racism that we all have been taught since day one in the United States". I endeavor to be anti-racist.

Not doing it would mean being complicit with the inequitable status quo that is harming our children, families and community.

Silence is NOT an option. Equity matters. If CSD is committed to ensuring the success of all students, we must be intentional in our efforts to identify and address the racist behaviors and practices that deny marginalized students the opportunities, resources, and support they need to thrive.
