& The Equity Concerns Form
Dr. Lillie Huddleston
Associate Superintendent of Equity and Student Services
My Job at a Glance: Making sure students are safe, seen, and successful.
Favorite Quote: “If you have come here to help me you are wasting your time, but if you have come because your liberation is bound up with mine, then let us work together." - Lilla Watson
What it Means to Me: Educational equity is everyone's work because what affects one person affects all. This knowledge emboldens me to approach the work, not from a place of helping "those kids," but from a place of joining together for the liberation of our community.
Dr. Mari Ann Banks
My Job at a Glance: Revolution!
Favorite Quote: “An educator in a system of oppression is either a revolutionary or an oppressor.” ~Lerone Bennett
What it Means to Me: When Students of the Global Majority are being marginalized in a system of oppression, it is my responsibility to revolt - until there is change.
Mr. Anthony Downer
Ms. Cynthia Brown
My Job at a Glance: I make things work around here!
Favorite Quote: "Justice will not be served until those who are unaffected are as outraged as those who are" ~ Benjamin Franklin
What it Means to Me: Human beings are all connected in more ways than we can imagine. Yet, some of us have the ability to choose to be in denial about the broken system we live in. We need many more people to be outraged enough or courageous enough to speak out.
